Marvel Legends Gave Us Much-Needed Upgrades
Hasbro’s flagship action figure line was a juggernaut (heh) this year, with Marvel Legends tapping into our collective nostalgia and desire for definitive versions of characters we love.
Their 2025 lineup of action figures were a good mix of new
additions and welcome upgrades—the Gamerverse waves with Juggernaut and Psylocke
being stellar standouts, the Netflix Daredevil wave giving us updated
Daredevil and Punisher figures, Retro and Comic lines that filled gaps in our
collections (Astonishing Beast! Ultimate Iron Man!), an X-Men ’97 wave with a
definitive Emma Frost, movie figures for Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts, and
the Maximum line, among others
Such a good year for Marvel Legends, only marred by price increases that is not commensurate to what you get (and arguably the Maximum Spider-Man figure is overpriced just because Hasrbro could).
Transformers Gave Us Nostalgia and Collabs
Transformers proved that a decades-old franchise can still surprise when the right releases hit at the right time.
Legacy United, Age of the Primes and Studio Series waves gave Transformers fans like me a lot to love this year, with releases like the G1 Superion and Devastator combiners making many Millennial inner children happy. And as much as it's not my cup of tea, the collabs Transformers had with everything from Hot Wheels to Naruto gave us some cool-looking transforming robots!
Even as the year ends, figures like Combaticon Vortex and Blast-Off makes me giddy for my boi Bruticus coming next year!
Blokees Gave Us Variety and Franchise Love
Blokees feels like it came out of nowhere. Originally known
for their fun blind-boxed model kits like their Transformers Galaxy Version
series, Blokees broadened both the scale and scope of their offerings in 2025 to
undeniable levels.
This year they’ve tapped into everything from Transformers
to Ultraman, Saint Seiya to Hatsune Miku, Minions to Naruto, Marvel to Star
Wars, all at varying price points and sizes for every type of fan. I don’t
think I’ve gone all-in with a new toyline quite like Blokees, and everything I’ve
gotten from them so far this year—Action Edition Megatron, Champion Class Superman, among others—are some of my favorite representations in my
collection.
And The Geek's Toyline of the Year is...
Blokees. Full stop.
With all that excellent competition, why do I crown Blokees
as my Best Toyline of 2025? Because it was Blokees that brought the fun back to
toy collecting for me this year!
Blokees moved beyond blind-box surprises into a real competitor in the model kit market
across a ton of major franchises. They expanded the hobby and gave collectors like me more ways to enjoy and participate in our fandoms without breaking the bank.
And that's a major thing to love about Blokees. The affordability of their model kits for what you get makes it easy for anyone to engage with the stuff they like. You love Star Wars? You can get the cheaper Galaxy Class or get an awesome Champion Class Stormtrooper. Love Jurassic Park like me? Their Terraventure Jurassic World figures are ridiculously inexpensive that I've gone and bought a ton to give as gifts for Christmas. And all of them quality figures to boot.
And it's safe to say no other toyline this year offers the same.
Congratulations to Blokees and I hope you don't stop doing what you're doing! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my Best of 2025 in Movies!
